Super Green Smoothie with Avocado, Kale, & Dates
Smoothie recipes are plentiful. But what makes good smoothie recipes?
Smoothies have been my choice of weekday breakfasts for over six years.
My search for a healthy on-the-go breakfast started about seven years ago when I became so puzzled with weight loss struggle Mr. Lunch was having.
I am 5’4″(165cm) and he is 6’2″(188cm) tall. That man was eating less than I was, and definitely consuming fewer calories. He was always hungry because he wasn’t eating enough, yet over six months into his endeavor, he hadn’t shed a pound.
This puzzled me so deeply that I searched for an answer. Eventually, I found this book, Ultrametabolism.
A lot of things in the book seemed impossible to follow back then. So I implemented what I could, making smoothies for our breakfasts.
A smoothie breakfast satisfies four criteria:
- Quick prep time in the busy morning
- The liberty to have it at your own pace ( you can drink it in the car during commute)
- A breakfast that will keep you full and satisfied until lunch time.
- A healthy nutritious breakfast that will lead to WEIGHT LOSS
Mark Hyman, the author of Ultrametabolism, is one of the leading figures in functional medicine field. I didn’t know this back then.
It’s funny how life works. I’ve been searching for an answer to cure my chronic skin condition, called seborrheic dermatitis. Last year, I finally caught a break.
The Autoimmune Solution by Amy Myers inspired me to modify my diet. By following her book (not even fully yet, a-hem), for the first time in my life in 30 years, I am free of taking steroidal medicine.
And guess what? She too is also a functional medicine doctor.
Sometimes, the journey to your health seems impossible and beyond your reach. But, I know by implementing the small things you can do, you will change your life.
Here are two small things that you should try today:
